Hard Sudoku
For the moments when you want to dig a little deeper.
Small patterns. Bigger breakthroughs.
Pairs and triples let you rule out candidates even before you can place a number. Use notes to find cells that share the same small set of possibilities.
Hard Sudoku rewards patient comparison. A useful deduction may depend on how the same candidates are distributed across several cells, so progress often comes in smaller steps than it does on Easy or Medium.
Keep candidate notes current and look for pairs or triples that reserve digits within a unit. When one part of the grid stops changing, switch from cells to rows, columns, or boxes and ask where a particular digit can still go.
Choose Hard when you have time to slow down. If the board begins to feel impossible, retrace your last confident move or use a hint to study the next logical pattern rather than making a random guess.
How we make our Sudoku puzzles
We create our puzzle packs with our own Sudoku generator. Starting from a completed grid, it removes clues only when exactly one solution remains. Each puzzle is checked again before joining a pack.
Difficulty follows the logical techniques needed to solve the puzzle, rather than just the number of empty cells. Easy starts with single candidates; higher levels introduce techniques such as pairs, triples, X-Wing, and Swordfish.
Hints that explain the reasoning
Our hints explain the reasoning behind the next move, including candidate eliminations when needed. Use them to understand a pattern and try it yourself on the next puzzle.
