Medium Sudoku
A little more to discover. Settle in, make a note, and find your next move.
Make room for a little discovery.
Sometimes a number has only one possible home within a row, column, or box. Look for hidden singles and candidates confined to an intersection.
Medium Sudoku keeps the direct logic of an easy puzzle but asks you to look a little longer. The next placement may be hidden inside a row, column, or box rather than obvious from one cell alone.
Candidate notes become useful here. Record two or three realistic possibilities where they help, then update those notes after every confirmed move. A candidate that appears only once in a unit reveals a hidden single.
Choose Medium when you want a steady solve with room to practise. It is also the standard difficulty for the Daily Sudoku, making it a good level for building a repeatable routine.
How we make our Sudoku puzzles
We create our puzzle packs with our own Sudoku generator. Starting from a completed grid, it removes clues only when exactly one solution remains. Each puzzle is checked again before joining a pack.
Difficulty follows the logical techniques needed to solve the puzzle, rather than just the number of empty cells. Easy starts with single candidates; higher levels introduce techniques such as pairs, triples, X-Wing, and Swordfish.
Hints that explain the reasoning
Our hints explain the reasoning behind the next move, including candidate eliminations when needed. Use them to understand a pattern and try it yourself on the next puzzle.
